Install
- Download Undervid.dmg. It needs macOS 14 or later.
- Open it and drag Undervid into Applications.
- Open Undervid.
The first time it opens, Undervid shows Your data: what stays on your Mac, what can leave it, and who receives it. Read it and press Got it. You can open it again any time from Privacy on the Home screen.
Set up
Home walks you through a few steps, one at a time. Each one is a single button.
- Connect Zoom. Approve Undervid in your browser. Then turn on "Share realtime meeting content with apps" in Zoom's settings so meetings start sending on their own. Press I don't use Zoom to skip it.
- Connect Claude Code. Adds Undervid to Claude Code so it can read your meetings. Quit and reopen Claude Code once afterwards. Prefer Codex? Press Codex instead.
- Add your API key. Anthropic, Google or OpenAI. It's used to analyze meetings and stays in your Keychain. Press Add later to skip for now.
- Allow screen recording. Only needed to record Meet, Teams or anything else on your Mac. macOS asks once, and you may need to reopen Undervid after.
When every step is done, Home says You're all set.
Record a meeting
Press Record in the toolbar (⌘R). When a meeting app comes to the front, Undervid also offers to record it from a small panel.
Before recording you confirm that everyone on the call knows. Tick Everyone on the call knows it's being recorded, then pick a screen. Copy a heads-up for the chat copies a short message you can paste into the meeting chat. If you always tell people first, press Don't ask again.
Press Stop when you're done. Undervid transcribes the recording on your Mac, then asks whether you want to analyze it.
You can also bring in a recording you already have with Import › Import recording….
Zoom meetings
How to add the Undervid app to Zoom, use it, and remove it.
Add
- In Undervid, choose Connect Zoom on Home (or Settings › Zoom › Connect).
- Your browser opens Zoom. Sign in and choose Allow. Your browser hands you back to Undervid.
- In Zoom's web settings, turn on Share realtime meeting content with apps. Settings › Zoom › Open Zoom settings takes you there.
Use
- Host a Zoom meeting as usual. Zoom shows everyone in the meeting its own notice that an app is receiving meeting content.
- Undervid receives the meeting's transcript, screen share and audio, only for meetings it's allowed to start in. If someone else hosts, Zoom shows "Request sent to the host" and the host has to approve Undervid in that meeting. If they don't, the meeting won't arrive.
- When the meeting ends, it shows up in the sidebar on its own while Undervid is open. Undervid checks every 30 seconds, or choose Settings › Zoom › Check now.
- To follow a meeting while it's happening, see Follow a live meeting.
Remove
- In Undervid, open Settings › Zoom and choose Disconnect. New meetings stop arriving and this Mac is signed out of Undervid's relay.
- In Zoom, go to the App Marketplace, open Manage › Added Apps, and remove Undervid. That revokes Undervid's access to your Zoom account.
- Undervid's relay deletes every Zoom meeting it holds within 24 hours. Meetings already on your Mac stay until you move them to the Trash.
Inside a meeting
Click a meeting in the sidebar. It has three tabs.
- Overview. The action items, a summary with decisions and open questions, and the handoff to Claude Code. Each action item links to the moment it came from.
- Transcript. Every line with its speaker and time. Search it, or copy it all. A time in blue jumps to the screen at that moment.
- Sources. The moments behind the action items: the screen recording around each one, or the screenshots for a Zoom meeting, with the quote and the change that was asked for.
The More (…) menu has Show in Finder, Copy transcript and Move to Trash.
Analyze
Analysis turns a meeting into action items. It runs on your own API key, straight from your Mac to your provider. You pay your provider. Undervid never sees it.
Nothing is sent without asking. Press Analyze on a meeting and Undervid shows exactly what would go, and to whom:
- Key moments. The screenshots and transcript lines around them. On by default.
- Full transcript. Off by default. Turn it on for a better summary.
Pick what to send and press Analyze, or Not now to keep it all on your Mac. You decide for every meeting.
Hand off to Claude Code
When a meeting has action items, its Overview says Ready for Claude Code. Two ways in:
- Copy prompt (⇧⌘C) and paste it into Claude Code.
- Or just ask Claude Code. Once connected, it can search your meetings and read the action items, transcript and screenshots itself.
Follow a live meeting
While a Zoom meeting is going, type /undervid-live in
Claude Code. Each new line of the transcript reaches Claude Code as
it's said, and the whole meeting is saved to
~/Undervid/live/. Under the hood it runs
undervid-mcp tail --live.
Only want to hear about what matters? Tell it, for example "interrupt me if they mention the deadline". That uses the Live meeting filter, which sends live transcript lines to your own Anthropic key. Turn it on in Settings › API keys.
/undervid-live is installed when you connect Claude Code.
Settings
Open Undervid › Settings (⌘,).
- API keys. Add, replace or remove your Anthropic, Google or OpenAI key. Keys stay in your Keychain and are never shown again. The Live meeting filter switch is here too.
- Agents. Connect or disconnect Claude Code and Codex.
- Zoom. Connect, reconnect or Check now. Open Zoom settings takes you to the realtime sharing switch. Disconnect stops new meetings and signs this Mac out of Undervid's relay.
- Words. Names and words Undervid should get right: products, clients, teammates. Separate them with commas. Used for transcripts and analysis.
- Privacy. Stop the consent question each time, turn Speaker labels on or off (it uploads the full audio to transcribe it), turn the daily update check on or off, review What happens to your data, or Export diagnostics.
Privacy
- Recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac.
- Nothing uploads without asking, except the full audio if you turn on Speaker labels.
- Analysis goes straight to your own provider on your own key.
- Zoom meetings pass through our relay, which deletes them after 24 hours.
- No account, no analytics.
